| Bleh. Guess who caught Calvin's cold? I'm staying home today. The decision is always an agonizing one. The guilt, the feeling that some emergency will come up, the feeling that I should just hack it out and go to work. But far be it for me to be one of the contributors of ongoing illness at work. I'll just dig in my heels starting tomorrow, and make up for staying home today by having an incredibly productive rest of the week. It's the drugs. They're making me all goofy. I've never been one to just stay in bed when I'm "home sick". I rather envy the people that can be that way. Like poor Calvin last week, he held the couch down all Monday and Tuesday. I'd visit him at lunchtime, and when I came home in the evening he'd be in the same position on the couch that I left him in. But not me. I have a whole list of things to do today:
I really ought to do some archiving work on the computer, too, but we'll see if I can get around to it. I want to fit a bath and a nap in my day somewhere. I just really wanted to let you guys know that the rest of the weekend went much better than the start of it. Calvin and I got a bunch of housecleaning done on Saturday afternoon, and then we went to Circuit City and bought a 25-inch TV with VCR for the bedroom. It's pretty cool, mounted on the wall with one of those moveable arm thingies. The space saved below it is just right for a mini-fridge. And I'll be receiving the computer from AcronymCo sometime within the next month or so. With the DSL service piped to the bedroom, mini-fridge, TV/VCR, and the comforts of our really cool bathroom, I foresee weekends in which Calvin and I don't even come out of the bedroom. Especially if we're well stocked on Doritos and whatnot. Someday we'll have a hot tub installed right outside our patio doors. Who needs a resort? We can just vacation at home! On Sunday morning I worked a bit on the upcoming "surprise" for you guys, sitting on the floor and messing with my laptop. Gypsy was whining fit to be tied outside the patio door, and when I investigated there was a hot air balloon hovering in the distance. I took pity on her and let her come in and keep me company. She laid on the floor next to me, staring up at the ceiling. Idiot dog. The only time we stirred outside of the house was to go to Arby's. I love their carver sandwiches, or whatever it is they call 'em. I took a nap, we watched TV and web surfed, and that was the extent of things. I was coming down hard with this darned cold, so I had no motivation to do anything more extreme. Gotta love this state. It's supposed to be 81 degrees today. I'll be throwing all the windows (and skylights) open again today, like I did the whole weekend. Maybe I can get the germ army to go bother the neighbors or something. We'll be cooling off to the 60's by the end of the week (oh, yes, we're tortured), but this is just a reminder that 110 degree weather is just a couple of months away. Ya-freakin-hoo. Okay, it's almost 8:00. I've gotta make "the call", and then get some of this other stuff done. I hope you guys have a good week, and thanks for all the e-mails of support this weekend. I love you guys! :) P.S. - I got a few results from February 1st's Mission. I myself never got beyond a Bacon Number of 3, but some other folks did! I'll fill ya in later, and come up with a new mission when I can think around the cold medicine induced fog that's inhabiting my brain. |
