I am a moody thing, aren't I?

Calvin just *asked* me if I "minded" putting off the housework until tomorrow. Mind??? Twist my arm, why dontcha??

High: Weekend!

Low: A twenty-two item "to do" list.

Giving myself a "mini-spa day" here at home - taking the time to soak in a bath, take care of my skin, and pamper myself a bit.

More of a gratification - the recent e-mails I've received (and you know who you are) that make me feel like I've really, truly got some wonderful friends in my readers. (I'll catch up in my e-mail soon, I promise!)

Nuthin.

The lenghts I would go to for my loved ones.

Twelve Questions for WordGoddess

Questions from Heather of The Sunshine Chronicles. A WordGoddess collab.

How did you and Calvin first meet? Was it 'love at first sight' or did he grow one you?

Calvin and I met when I was working for a construction company, before I was hired by AcronymCo. Our company was building a building for AcronymCo, and Calvin was the AcronymCo technician our company was collaborating with for the HVAC requirements. One of my duties of this VERY male-oriented and chauvinistic company was to make the coffee in the morning (I was the Assistant Purchasing Agent, there were other folks on level with me but since they were *boys*, the coffee making duties fell to me). The very first time I ever saw Calvin, he was standing in front of the coffee maker, talking to one of the guys in my company. He up-down once-overed me, gave me a flirty smile, and kept on talking. I finished making the coffee, and went into the Expediter's office to talk to her about something. Calvin came in a few minutes later to also discuss something with the Expediter, and we were introduced.

I can't for the life of me remember what he said, but whatever it was, it left me thinking "What a weird guy." So, yeah, I guess he grew on me. Heh. Not exactly romantical, is it?

What did you do on your first date?

We went to the Phoenix Zoo.

Would you say you have a close relationship with your step children?

Heh. The funny thing of it is, I read this question out loud to Marie. She, the snarky little thing, acted like she was hemming and hawing, trying to decide if we were close or not. But then, last night, she and I ended up lying on the floor of my bedroom for over an hour, just gabbing about everything. Michael calls me at work just to say "hi", and tells me he loves me often. So yes, I consider myself very blessed and fortunate to have an extremely close relationship with them both.

Do you and Calvin intend to have children together?

I read this question out loud to Calvin, and he shouted "Hell, no!" I'm pretty sure he was just kidding, though. I certainly would like to have children with Calvin, but it's not something we're planning for right now.

If someone told you could add one - and only one - more animal to your home, what would you choose and why?

Oi. It depends on my mood. For instance, I watched "Cats and Dogs" recently and was all ready right then and there to go out and purchase another Beagle puppy. A few weeks ago when Calvin and I were getting the truck washed, another customer in the lobby had a Shibu Inu, which Calvin and I immediately developed the "I wants" for. And then, of course, we're currently cat-less and I occasionally get kitten lust. Just so I could name it "Lolly" or "Tinsel".

What exactly do you do at AcronymCo?

Okay, I'm going to have to waaay nutshell this. AcronymCo is a company that develops microprocessors and semiconductors. I work in a research and development organization. In my job, I am responsible for improving the manufacturing process of our products for current technologies, and helping to create new manufacturing processes for new and upcoming technologies.

Do you have a 'dream job'? What is it?

My dream job is to be a horse trainer. Or perhaps own a successful stable that turns out high-caliber eventers. I'd say I want to ride in competition, but really I'm happiest just doing my own thing. I just didn't have the competitive spirit that it takes to ride professionally. I do like to teach little children how to ride, too.

I've always had a particular lust for Archaeology, too. If I could be an archaeologist ala Lara Croft I'd be in heaven.

Are you going to school for anything is particular? (I was going to ask 'What's your major?' but it sounded pretty silly.....)

I'm majoring in Business Management right now, but I'd really like to get into something more technical, like Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

Do you ever pull out your old written journals and read them? What do you think of some of the 'early' writings? Do you feel your writing style has progressed/improved?

I have been known to pull out my early written journals - mainly to make fun of them. The things I used to write about! The things I still write about! I'd say that my writing has gained clarity, depth, and empathy. I'm still subject to fits of doubt about my writing ability, though.

When you posted your first online entry, did you expect to still be at it 2 years down the line? If you knew then what you know now, would you have started at all?

Perhaps not after my very first entry, but maybe after a month or so of OLJ-ing, I couldn't imagine my life without it. So yes, I'm quite delighted at the scope of my little project now, nearly two years later. It has been a very positive experience for me, one that I would repeat if I "knew then" what I "know now" - which is that there's a whole world of virtual friends out there who have inspired me, supported me, commiserated with me, made me laugh, made me cry, and have made me feel like I'm part of something bigger than myself.

Do you find that the online journals you read belong to people that have a lot of things in common with you? Or that are very different from you?

Both, really. I'm insatiably curious about people - what they think, why they do the things they do, their joys, their experiences, their perspectives. I like reading about the extraordinary lives that some people lead, and the comfortable, even, quiet lives other people lead. I've developed some close friendships with some of the journallers I read. I enjoy them for the things we have in common, and I enjoy them for the things we hold different from one another.

You have just won the Diarist Award for best overall journal - what do you have to say for yourself?

Oh, hell, I'll never win the damned thing. I guess I'm just not one of the "cool kids". Really, though, I feel like I've won a "Diarist Award" every time a reader writes to me and tells me that I've touched them in some way by what I've written. To me, that is the highest honor, and an honor that I cherish every time it occurs.
