I am a silly woman who doesn't act her age. Not that I need to qualify that to any of you, since this is hardly news. But my immaturity is further evidenced by the fact that I IM'ed with Marie's twelve-and-thirteen year old friends on Friday afternoon. While downloading hip-hop on Aimster. And watching TRL on M-TV. Up in my room. Awww, yeah. When I got home from work on Friday afternoon, I was anticipating having a long and lonely evening - Calvin had been called up to Flagstaff at the last minute (on a Friday - yeah, you know what his mood was like) and wouldn't be home until late. Marie had her usual round of socialization to attend (the movies, for which I was to play bus driver). So I hooked my laptop up in my bedroom (AcronymCo hasn't shut down my DSL line yet, and I don't know if I should say anything about it). We don't have a desk in the bedroom yet, so I was forced to get creative, or else sit on the floor. And I'm sick of that. So I stole a TV tray and a kitchen chair, and voila! As I uploaded Friday's entry, I downloaded AOL Instant Messenger and Aimster. I proceeded to IM with Marie, who was one room over in the computer room. Then she hooked me up with one of her boy friends, who told me all about how Marie has different giggles for the guys she likes versus the guys she doesn't like. And he gave me some download suggestions. And Marie was keeping me informed of who likes whom and who broke up with who. Meantime, I was downloading:
I dropped them off, admonishing them to "behave", and went back home. I fooled around on-line for a while, then read a book. I got a knock on my door at about 8:00, and it was AB and her fiance. We gabbed, and AB showed me the dresses we'll be wearing for her wedding. Then we went out for Mexican food, and met back up with Calvin at our house at about 9:45, when he finally got home from Flagstaff. The only other thing to note about the weekend is that when one watches "Dude, Where's My Car", one really, REALLY needs to be buzzed. Calvin and I kept going back to the fridge for more reinforcements throughout the movie. Yo, it was rilly, rilly bad. Another thing worth noting is that TBS's rendition of "The Mists of Avalon" isn't half bad. They departed from the book a few times, but not too badly. I'm not one to recap movies and give my drawn out opinion - but it's a pretty sure thing that if it's a movie made from a book, I like the book better. And I do in this circumstance, too (as I did with "Jurassic Park", "The Hunt for Red October", and let's not even discuss "The Clan of the Cave Bear"). But like I said, it's not half bad. I just hope that Julianne Marguelise gets more movie deals - else why the heck did she leave ER in the first place? My dog's a big dork. This is Kye, from my vantage at my "computer desk", looking back into the bathroom. I'm IM-ing with Dawn and listening to "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel". It's almost worth it to go into work at 6:00 in the morning when you can come home at 2:00 in the afternoon. Almost. All the bad things that I alluded to in my Notify List last week pretty much came true. Sigh. I hate implementing a new system when I haven't been able to oversee the whole thing to make sure it gets done right. Not that I'm a control freak or anything. Just more concerned about the outcome than some of my co-workers. So I had a bunch of fire fighting pretty much from the word go this morning. And PR work to take care of, which I hate because I usually don't have to do it (ahem, because I do things *right* in the first place - yeesh).Anyway, just a bunch of dribs and drabs for an entry. I figured some day I'd like to know what I was thinking, feeling, and doing on July 16, 2001. So here it is, for the sake of Posterity. Editor's note: So I added some more goofy pictures of my animals, who were feeling photogenic, a few minutes after I originally posted the entry. I couldn't resist. |
