prev home archive next Momentary Thought Anybody know a guaranteed headache cure? I've been suffering with this sucker for the past four days. It feels like someone is pushing their thumbs against my eyeballs. High/Low High: A Friday needs no other high. Low: No JournalCon for me, I'm afraid. With Michael's graduation (and hence our trip to San Diego) in September, plus Marie's birthday on Sept. 18th, plus Calvin's birthday on October 1st, I simply can't afford it. Maybe next year! Current Obsession You know, it'll be a year in October since the addition was completed. We have yet to paint the outside of it. We planned on painting this weekend, but AB is having a party. Let's see... paint... party... paint... party... Tough decision, there. Grin Source My Bonzi Buddy (tm) just informed me that a giraffe can clean out its own ears with its 21 inch tongue. That just cracked me up. Singing My darlin' I can't get enough of your love, babe. Barry White - "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" Storyteller Bio Dramatis Personnae Who I Read Recipes |
Calvin cracks me up. See, Marie downloaded a little desktop companion called a "Bonzi Buddy". He's a little purple gorilla that lives on your desktop and cracks jokes, tells trivia, and converses with you. He also is able to "speak" - you type in what you want him to say, and he has a voice program that speaks the words back to you. It's actually pretty clever - tone and inflection change depending on capitalization and punctuation. So he sounds enthusiastic when an exclamation is present, and questioning when a question mark is present, et cetera.Anyway, Calvin observed Marie playing with this one evening, and commandeered the computer away from her. I was in the living room, and all of a sudden I hear Calvin and Marie cracking up in the computer room. I go in and find that Calvin has typed in the words "purple monkey poo" and was making the creature say it over and over. Hence my entry title. And of course, I downloaded the little fella on my work computer. ******************** Thanks to everybody that send me happy birthday wishes last week! I really appreciate it. It was a pretty mellow birthday for me - my co-workers took me out to lunch at TGI Friday's (and yes, I got clapped at - damn them). Then Calvin, Marie and I went out to dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery. Saturday we went to Sedona with the intent of spending the day there. We left at 8:30 and got there by 10:30. By 11:15 we were done with brunch and started walking the shops. But Marie was feeling very *very* badly (to the point where she had to throw up, it was that bad), so we had to turn around and leave. That was at about 11:45, and we were home by a little after 2:00. Then Calvin and Marie slept until around 6:00, while I cleaned up the house. Sunday the most exciting thing I did was take a bubble bath, with the lovely stuff that Dawn sent me. I've been using the lotion every day, and I smell like warm vanilla goodness. And of course, being a journaler, I could *always* use another journal. She said the lighthouse reminded her of me, since I'm from Maine and all. I'm all verklempt.Calvin and I both took the day off on Monday, and the three of us went to see "Jurassic Park III". It was entertaining enough, if predictable, and with too many obvious correlations to the first movie ("playing god" references, digging through dinosaur poop, rapter angst, etc.). On Wednesday I received these flowers from my good friend K (the flowers on the left are from her - the flowers on the right are from Calvin and Marie). I thought it was awfully sweet of her, considering I only sent her a card and I *know* how expensive flowers are!!And here, for your viewing pleasure, are some more pictures of Sedona and whatnot: |

A shot of Calvin and Marie's flowers, with the roses. I had to take them out after a few days because they died, but the rest of the flowers are still thriving. And I just adore lilies. At least, I think that's what they are. |
| The birthday card from Dawn, which cracked me up. Suffice to say, Calvin was less than pleased that I put it on the mantle. | ![]() |

A little courtyard in the shopping district of Sedona. Which is redundant - *all* of Sedona is a shopping district. |

This is pretty dramatic to drive up on. Damn the haze. And God only knows how many pictures I would have come away with if we'd spent the whole day up there! |

Michael's Update Box
He hasn't written in a while, but I'm sure he's very busy. According to the program we saw on The Discovery Channel ("Marines - What It Takes"), he should be entering his weapons training phase. This is probably the busiest part of his training, so we forgive him for the lack of letters. 41 more days until we see him! |
