Public Service Announcement

August's Storyteller topic is up!

Momentary Thought

Okay, this damned purple monkey is getting annoying. He's always in my way. How many of you have downloaded him?

High/Low

High/Low:
I'm combining them because I'm not sure (yet) which category this falls under. My division at AcronymCo is reorganizing, and I'll now be reporting to a new manager. My job scope is changing, too - I'm giving up some stuff and taking on some other stuff. I don't know if this is good or bad, yet. But hey! At least I'm employed, right?

Current Obsession

Figuring out how to pay for all the stuff that's happening in the next couple of months.

Oh, the irony of it all. I was *just* commenting to Calvin about how we, quote, "Never do anything on the weekends."

Famous last words.

Let's see here. This coming weekend, August 4th, we're painting the house. Yes, we are. We are!

The weekend of the 11th we're going tubing down the Salt River with AB and her fiance.

The weekend of the 18th I'm going to a bachelorette party, and Calvin's going to the bachelor party. See, last weekend when we were at AB's party, we met a couple who are getting married on August 25th. We all hit it off pretty well, and so we were invited to the wedding festivities. Which means:

The weekend of the 25th, we're going to their wedding. That is also the (possible) weekend of Dawn's next visit.

The weekend of September 1st we'll be doing some heavy-duty cleaning, because:

We leave on September 5th for San Diego and Michael's graduation, and are returning on September 7th, or possibly 8th (depending on if he wants to come straight home or not).

The weekend of September 15th we'll be having a family get-together at our house, so the family can see Michael again before he's off on more training. It's also a few days before Marie's birthday, so we're combining the two intents.

Then, so Marie can have a day dedicated solely to her, we're having a birthday party for her and her friends the weekend of the 22nd.

Last, but certainly not least, we're going to Sedona the weekend of the 29th, to celebrate Calvin's birthday.

Somewhere among all that stuff, normal life needs to happen. The rest of Marie's school shopping needs to occur. I need to get the truck washed and the oil changed. Work is exploding in twelve different directions at once, due to this reorganization that's happening. And I need to start school again in September. I need to buy a wedding gift, and birthday presents for Marie and Calvin. I need to wash all of Michael's clothes so he'll have some "civvies" to wear while he's home.

The financial finagling alone of all of this stuff is enough to occupy the entirety of my mental capacity. Presents, hotel reservations, celebratory meals, entertaining, entertainment...

My head hurts.

Minutiae:

- I have a hits counter at the very bottom of my index page. It's nearing 9,000 hits. I would like to send a gift to the reader who hits the 10,000 visitors mark, or the closest to it. If you're visitor number 10,000-10,005, send me a screen shot with the magic number, and your snail-mail address (if you're so inclined). I'll send you a gift if you're the closest!

- Calvin isn't an avid book reader. By any stretch of the imagination. He reads the newspaper, Playboy, and motorcycle magazines. That's about it. So he met my idea of bringing along the audio version of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" on the road trip to San Diego, with less than marked enthusiasm. He said he'll give it fifteen minutes, and if he's bored to tears we're turning it off. So off I went to Amazon to place an order for the cassettes. Only to find that they're no longer available. There's an audio download available of the first book, which I might try out, and burn it to CD. But I'd rather have the whole series on CD or cassette. Does anybody out there know where I can get my hands on them?

- Finally, does anyone out there belong to the Squishy Ring? Since Pamie took down Squishy, does that mean the ring was taken down, too?

Michael's Update Box

Doogie (the prolific 3WA poster, formerly of "Under A Mountain", but I don't have his new URL) is a Marine and is kindly sending some correspondence to Michael. I'm sure he'll be thrilled. The more mail, the better! If anybody else would like to send him letters, I'll be happy to give you the address!
