Word Up

(Cameo fix...

Wave your hands in the air
like you don’t care,
glide by the people as they start to look and stare.
Do you dance, do your dance quick
Mama, come on baby, tell me what’s The Word, ah – word up
Everybody say when you hear the call
you got to get it underway,
Word up, it’s the code word,
No matter where you say it,
You’ll know that you’ll be heard.

...I now return you to your regularly scheduled entry, already in progress. I love my iPod.)

I posted a bunch of entries to get caught up, they start here.

I mentioned a while ago that Calvin and I have been buying a crazy variety of CD's. To the list in the referenced entry, I now add:

Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation
Tim McGraw - Reflections
Brooks & Dunn - Hillbilly Delight
Keith Urban
Three different 80's compilation CD sets (because we don't have enough of those already)
Guns & Roses - Greatest Hits
Yo-Yo Ma - Classic Yo-Yo
Judas Priest Live Concert DVD
Corinne Bailey Rae
Yet another Judas Priest hits CD (again, because we're so short on those)
An indie CD which artist I can't recall at the moment

Also, recent downloads from MP3 Rocket include:

Under the Influence of Giants
Nelly Furtado
Rascal Flatts
Maroon 5
Kotton Mouth Kings
Simply Red
Mest
Bowling for Soup
Faith No More
En Vogue
Stone Temple Pilots
Lauren Hill
Korn
Len
Bruce Hornsby
Dave Matthews
Interpol
Death Cab for Cutie
Panic! at the Disco
My Chemical Romance
Cheyenne Kimball

Is there such a thing as having ADD only in relation to music?

My romance novel kick also continues. I have read four books by Christina Dodd, six novels by Julia Quinn, seven books by Gaelen Foley, four books by Julie Garwood, and four books by Lisa Kleypas. Since the beginning of July. All downloaded and consumed via Microsoft Reader. I used to be a died-in-the-wool reader of physical books, but now I am finding a certain benefit to reading on my laptop. Of course, one cannot assume The Reading Position - prone, propped up on a pillow, legs stretched out, left hand holding the book open, right hand reaching into the bag of Doritos.

We have also signed up for Netflix instead of supporting Hollywood Video's bottom line with our late fees. And we got rid of Dish Network, whose service was unreliable, and went to HD digital cable supplied by Cox.

Yea verily I say unto thee, we are adequately entertained in our household.

Speaking of being entertained, we have purchased an addition to the Animal Planet in the form of yet another lizard. About a week and a half ago I took Cheeto to the vet as he seemed lethargic and not his usual Cheeto-ey self. The diagnosis? He's lonely and fat. Heh. I guess we've been feeding Cheet too many of the high-fat superworms, so now he needs to work it off. Plus, bearded dragons are one of the few species of lizards that socialize with one another in the wild. I guess they congregate together. So Cheet's been lonely all by his fat self with no one to flirt with.

So last weekend we went to Arizona Reptile and picked up an 8-month old Sandfire beardie female. She's got such a sweet little disposition. When Cheeto got a load of her he started bearding and head bobbing, establishing his territory and... uh... well, horniness. Cheet wants to get a little sumthin-sumthin. The new little one responded by daintily, slowly, gently waiving her arms at him, first the left, then the right. Like a way slowed down version of the swimming crawl. That's a beardie's way of saying, "Hey, I know you're dominant. Look! I'm a beardie just like you! Love me!" We've moved their cages close together so they can observe one another. Well, so Cheet can observe her - she doesn't seem at all disturbed by his posturing. She won't be sexually mature for another 10 months to a year, so we'll probably need to keep them separated until then so her first experience with Cheeto won't be tantamount to rape. He REALLY wants some.

Cheeto bearding

This is the new little girl. Isn't she pretty?

Cheet thinks she's pretty

We haven't come up with a name for her yet. Anybody want to take a stab at it? If you send me a name and we choose to use it, I'll send you something kitschy from Arizona.
