This is the collection of bird feeders my sister Susan has in her yard. They attract a lot of chipmunks and squirrels. Susan would stand at the window in her living room and aim her .22 at the invading varmints (picture Annie Oakley, if you will). I'd say she got what she aimed for, three times out of five. And then all the kids would pile out and investigate, reporting back with gruesome descriptions of "You got it through the *eye*, Mom!" or "I think its mate is really mad at you, it was chittering at us from the tree." My sister and her family live a very, VERY back-woods kind of lifestyle. But they didn't throw the chipmunks and squirrels into the stewpot.
