My August Trip to Maine

These are the flowers that Susan and I picked from her garden to create bouquets for Grandma's wake and funeral. I should have taken more time to create the setting for this picture (get a load of the kid art in the background!), but we just ran out of time. We were literally walking out the door on the way to the wake, and I certainly wasn't taking my camera to *that*. The bouquet on the left is "from" Susan and her husband, me and Calvin. It exactly matched the colors of Grandma's casket and the dress she wore - the one she wore to my wedding to the ex, as a matter of fact.

The bouquet on the right is "from" the kids, and Lucian actually sacrificed some of the flower's from his dog Spike's grave (more on that in a minute) for it. We felt that Grandma would better appreciate flowers from Susan's garden, since she always had a fit when someone bought her flowers. She thought that was just useless since they die in a few days. That's why *I* always sent her plants.
