September 20, 2002A TasteStaying home today. I've been sleeping like crap for the last week. That, on top of a very busy and stressful three weeks at work, well, it all seems to have caught up with me at once. I woke up headachy and foggy this morning, and the knowledge that I have few meetings and most of my assignments in (and the rest can wait until Monday). I'll likely be a domestic dominatrix today. I have goals of a workout and a bubblebath, and a spin around the farmer's market. Housecleaning is always there to be done, but you know? I'm not going to bust my ass today trying to get it all done. It'll get done, or it won't, and the house isn't much of a disaster right now, anyway. I anticipate that today will give me a taste how I'm going to spend the blissful, idle days of my sabbatical. Two hundred and sixty-something days away (and counting). Through the glory of the Internet, I have the ability to bore you to tears with pictures of my day. ![]() For breakfast - scrambled eggs (with Worcestershire!), sprouted toast with the merest smidge of cream cheese, an apple, and coffee.
![]() ![]() Eyes. Rolling. The local morning news program, in conjunction with one of the local country music stations, is filming the destruction of various things dropped from 100+ feet in the air, to celebrate "Sir Isaac Newton, gravity, and the first day of fall". This here's the piano.
![]() ![]() Made "the" call.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Went 20 minutes on this thing.
![]() Then, did a full workout on this thing, upper body (lateral raises, forward raises, tricep kickbacks, curls, chest press, pec flys, seated rows) and lower body (thigh extensions, hamstring curls, squats, calf raises, glut kickbacks, lunges, glut flexes). Did abs (reverse crunches, bicycles, pendulums). I usually do either upper body or lower body, and alternate days, but I've been a complete slacker lately and feel like kicking my own ass.
![]() My water goal for today. Really, I'll drink one bottle and keep refilling it from the fridge.
![]() Aaaahhh... bubbly goodness.
![]() The cat was making an amazing racket while I was *trying* to relax in the bath. I emerge from the bathroom to find this. Poor, poor Snoopy.
![]() Some light reading before lunch...
![]() ...in the red, red living room. Note, if you will, the usually carefully-placed plants at the base of the television are strewn every which way. Note, if you will, the culprit at the bottom of the picture, chasing his little plastic ball with the bell in it.
![]() Post-destructive bliss.
![]() A little lunch...
![]() ...while watching a little Bugs. Put dinner in the crock pot (there's no picture, because it looks kinda gross when you first put it in the crockpot). Crockpot Mushroom Chicken 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can cream of chicken soup (or two cans of mushroom soup, or a can of mushroom soup and a can of cream of celery soup, or cream of celery and cream of asparagus if you hate mushrooms, or whatever combination gives you the warm-fuzzies) 1 cup chicken broth 1/2 cup cooking sherry wine 2 tbsp Worcestershire herbed chicken seasoning, salt, and pepper Place chicken in bottom of crockpot. Mix remaining ingredients together in a bowl, and pour over chicken. Cook on Low for six hours. Serve chicken and sauce with egg noodles or rice. ![]() The grocery list... ![]() ...followed by the groceries. ![]() I listened to Dr. Phil while I put the groceries away. Purely out of morbid curiosity, I assure you. ![]() Then Oprah (and Bono!) while folding some laundry. ![]() This is what we're watching this weekend. |
