Time: 10:16 a.m. Note: It's not as early as I wanted to get started, but we stayed up until 2:00 in the morning. Plus I had to install the scanner software. Excuses, excuses. Momentary Thought I don't mean to come off as snooty in that title, but dang if we ain't a photogenic bunch! High/Low High: Michael's home for the weekend! Low: A "low" hasn't come up yet! Current Obsession Negotiations with X(f) for Marie's braces. Grin Source Listening to Looney Tunes playing in the background. "Stop steamin' up my tail! What are you tryin' to do, wrinkle it?" Calvin makes purty kids, doesn't he? These are the professional pics we had done a few weeks ago. There's others, with the whole family together, and a couple more pairs shots, but I thought these two were the best. Huh. We actually had these taken on September 11th, come to think of it. We were a subdued bunch as we politely laughed at the photographer's inane jokes ("Everybody say money!"). Then we went out for dinner at Red Lobster (I'm not much of a fan of the place, but the rest of the gang is). Michael, who was dressed in his military uniform, kept getting up from the table and going to the bathroom (I say "kept", but he only did it twice) to give all the young ladies in the place ample opportunity to check him out. ~grin~ Anyway, I just like the concept of family photos, as I believe I've mentioned before. We're actually having to restrain ourselves or else we'll plaster all of our available wall space with pictures. We *do* want to leave a little room for some artwork, after all. And here is Calvin and I. I really do love this shot. It's just so "us". We spend a lot of time in physical contact with one another. While we're sitting on the couch, his feet are in my lap, or my head is against his shoulder. In the kitchen, and wandering around the house, a hug/kiss/pat is exchanged whenever we pass one another. If he's standing at the stove, I'm behind him with my arms around his waist and my cheek against his shoulder (just like the picture on this page). It's just one of the many things I really appreciate about my relationship with Calvin. My prior relationship was not very demonstrative at all, even during the (short) time that I was still inclined to *be* demonstrative toward X(m). Calvin and I keep saying we want to be rich - not to expand upon our lifestyle or acquire more belongings, but because we want to be able to spend all of our time, 24/7, with one another.Last night, after dropping Marie and her friend off at a school dance, and dealing with X(f) (which did *not* go well, but I really don't care to rehash the details), Calvin and I took the pizza we ordered to the park. The weather was perfect, and the moon was ripe and glowing over the horizon. Relaxed on a blanket in the grass, munching pizza and taking pulls of our beers, we talked about the kids, our relationship, and how happy we are together. Having to deal with negativity from Calvin's ex on a semi-regular basis (and my semi-annual "I hate your guts" phone call from *my* ex) just serves to remind us of how fortunate we are to be in such a compatible relationship with one another. I highly recommend being in a relationship with your best friend - it's really the only way to go. We went for a ride on the motorcycle to take advantage of the refreshingly cool evening (October! Yay! Less than 100 degree weather!), and then hung around with Marie and her friend, who were goofy and high off of a successful evening at the dance. Then we got a phone call from Michael, who has a 72 hour leave this weekend and decided to spend it at home. San Diego is only a 45 minute flight away, after all, and he didn't have to pay for the tickets. He's got a nasty cough, though, which he's had forever. I'm concerned that he may have pneumonia, but he refuses to get checked out by a doctor until after he's at his MOS - he doesn't want to get delayed in getting his training done. Well, he's 18 now and I can't very well strap him into a car seat and force him to go to the doctors. Tonight we're making plans to go to the drive in, since the weather is so great. Tomorrow will probably be breakfast at Calvin's mom's restaurant, followed by goofing off and lollygagging around. I'd be perfectly content for the rest of my life if every weekend were like this. |
