Turning Point

This has been a good weekend.

I'm pausing in the writing of this entry to just stop and look at that sentence. Six small words, but a big, big deal. This weekend was the breakover point between stress and relaxation. It was the turning from outward anxieties to inward peace. It was the change in focus from the complications of living to the simplicities in life.

Certainly at the outset of the weekend, I didn't know it would have such a lofty conclusion. I stayed busy, I dealt with the animals. I plowed my way through an entire mountain range of laundry, and dusted the bedroom. I futzed around with the hot tub, and wandered around the house in a nesting mood, straightening up. I made fudge, and cookies, and magic cookie bars. Heather came over, and we ate and gabbed and watched movies. I wrapped presents for three hours straight.

Calvin has been in high good spirits since Friday afternoon. It does my heart good to see the return of the sparkle in his eyes, and laughter in his voice. We've blasted Christmas carols on high volume, and listened to four different versions of "O Holy Night". We've been practically inseparable, and we've got the warm-fuzzies on full throttle.

Laura - "I'm still cold."
Calvin - "Do you want my sweater?"
Laura - "No, just give me a hug. You're better than a sweater."
Heather - "Eeewww!"

I have the house to myself for a few moments right now, as Marie and Calvin are off somewhere, and Michael is at a friend's house. So I'm going to take this opportunity to read some more of "The Lord of the Rings", and snuggle with the cat. I just wanted to say hello, and post a few gratuitous animal photos. They're being just too cute for words, lately.

Gadget *hates* to lie on the cold patio floor.

This is the cutest picture I think I've ever captured of them.

Oz, *not* helping me fold laundry.
