Rock-n-roll ain't noise pollution.

Last night right before ER came on, Calvin was standing in front of the open refrigerator, huffing, while I was grabbing a glass of ginger ale. "What's the matter? Hungry?" I asked. "Yeah, but I don't know what I want," he replied.

"You know," I said, "I've really been craving a strawberry sundae from Dairy Queen." His eyes just lit right up, and five minutes later the three of us (because Marie's all about the ice cream, too) were in the truck on the way to Dairy Queen. It was raining, and it smelled good outside. We were listening to our new CD's, and they thumped in an enjoyable manner.

Almost-instant gratification of a craving (which is DANGEROUS), because fifteen minutes later we were back on the couch watching TV and hoovering our ice cream. "Ahh," I said as I finished the last bite. "That made me happy!"

Such a simple statement, but it's a great thing to be able to say it!

Heather invited me to some dinner thing her company is hosting (with some vendors? I don't remember, now) tomorrow night. That is, if I could "drag myself away from Calvin for a few hours". :-P

I need to get smilies that I can use in my entries.

Anyway! I'm glad she chose me to use up the other person slot in her two-person invitation. I suspect, though, that there will be many couples there. Perhaps they will think we are lesbian lovers? That might be fun.

Man, I wish I could see the look on Heather's face when she reads that!

I got my hair cut earlier this week. As a result the layers are very sassy and flippy, and it's easier to count on a good hair day as I'm flipped upside down drying my hair and contemplating the world.

My craniosacral therapist taught me all about my chakras today. I feel all mystical and shit.

My Christmas shopping is done. All but two of the expected packages have been delivered, and I get to stay home and wait for one on Tuesday, so Marie doesn't sign for it and thereby find out what she's getting. We're getting our tree tonight - Calvin expressly requested that we hunt for it at night. That made me happy - one, that he's looking forward to picking out a tree (it's hard to tell if he ever gets in the holiday spirit); and two, I love wandering among the trees at night and thinking maybe, just maybe, some weird trick of the weather will strike the Phoenix area and flurry us with snow. Just for the evening.

My friend Dani is getting married next week. She and her fiance are eloping to Maui. We showed them all of our pictures and videos, and advised them on which hotel they should stay at. We even let them borrow our snorkels. So, while I am jealous that they get to go and we can't, at least our snorkels will be there.

Yeah, that doesn't make me feel any better, really.

This past week at work has been a breeze. Hardly any meetings to go to, as folks take vacations, and other folks are loathe to start new projects so close to the holidays. Next week will be much the same. And then I'm off on the 22nd, either until the 29th, or until the 5th if I so choose. Calvin can't take any time off, though, so I might save my vacation time and just take the company holiday days off.

Speaking of Calvin, he figured out how to edit our handycam videos on the computer. So now I can capture some awesome stills of our Maui vacation (and Finish. The. Damned. Entries). Who knows, I might just start posting regular movies, ala Rob and Robin (oh, hell, does she spell her name with a "y"?).

I bought "Bad Boys II" (the soundtrack is better than the movie, though I did find the movie entertaining enough) and "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour" on DVD last week. If you haven't seen "Blue Collar", run, DO NOT WALK, to your nearest Best Buy and purchase it (or use that thar Amazon link I just gave ya). I'd say rent it, but if your local Hollywood is like ours, they only have one copy and it's always out. Seriously. I laughed my ass off. It may be because I have a special place in my heart for that there redneck humor. I identify with it.

Hell, I'm related to it.

Over the past several weeks, I have completely re-read the "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" series by Laurell K. Hamilton. All (counting) eleven of 'em. The next one comes out in October of '04 (entitled "Incubus Dreams", according to the fan website), so perhaps I should have delayed my re-read. Ah, well. The third book of the Merry Gentry series comes out in February, so I'll give the first two a re-read in time to be caught up for it.

Calvin would call me obsessed. I would say I'm well-read.

I rocked out to AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" on the ride home from work. Have I mentioned I love my stereo? It moves my hair. And on the stereo in the living room right now, the local hip-hop station is having a retro weekend. A little joy, a little pain. A little sunshine, a little rain.

An excellent way to start the weekend. I'm off to go keep Calvin company while he makes his killer tacos out of the roast left over from last night's dinner.
