Sadness.

I just contacted FedEx about our wayward lobster order. Severe weather prevented a lot of shipments from the east coast, and our lobsters won't be coming.

I'm so disappointed I could cry. It wouldn't be so bad but for the fact that Michael and Lilly are finally here for the holidays, and were really looking forward to this particular tradition.

Stupid snow. I move away from Maine, and I'm still being impacted by it.

Happy Christmas Eve Day!

Calvin and I are sitting on the couch, both drinking coffee, he reading the paper, me perusing TUS. There's an apple pie baking in the oven, making the house smell great. The kids and the babies are asleep, but I hear some stirring, and soon Anthony will come down with his red cheeks and tousled hair, smiling and happy to be awake, and give me my Cheerios, please! Devlin will be wrapped up like a Glow Worm (the Grandparents gave him a Glow Worm doll last night for Christmas, which cracked us up), and will be propped up on the couch to look around and blink at the lights on the Christmas tree.

We got up early so we could be sure to catch the Fed Ex delivery of lobsters. Cooking on-deck includes baked potato soup, pumpkin pie, and another batch of magic cookie bars. We'll have an early dinner, followed by a rousing game of Monopoly, our new obsession - the enjoyment of which is added to by the consumption of Christmassy drinks comprised of Bailey's Irish Creme and Butterscotch Schnapps.

Today is turning out wonderfully. Tomorrow will be wonderful, too. The holidays are so much better when we're all together.
