Lookit what I gone and done!

Sponsor Me!

I've joined the November 2006 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. Notice how I've given myself plenty of time to get in shape for it. If any of you would like to sponsor me, I'd be ever so grateful for any donation you feel comfortable with. Just click on the 3-Day image above. I've promised to raise $2,200, but I'd like to go further! It's for a great cause.

Five

I have an entry that I've been working on for the past week that just isn't pulling together. It's going to be one of those disjointed ones, but I will post it eventually. I have been absolutely, crushingly, weepingly tired. Fatigued. Exhausted, even. I don't particularly know why, but I'm going to put some thought into what I can do about my health and energy, and get a move on.

I just wanted to drop this post and cheer for the fact that Snerkology celebrated its fifth anniversary yesterday. I've always felt that a journal or on-line voice has become solidly established in the on-line community once it reaches its fifth year. That's dedication, right there. Proof that keeping a journal/blog/what have you isn't a passing phase in dabbling in what's "in" at the moment. I journaled before it was cool. And I'm pretty darned proud to have stuck around for so long, with no end in sight.

Reading the first year of archived entries is weird, though. I don't sound like me at all, I think. I wonder when I stopped being hyper aware that **other people** would be reading my entries?

Hi, other people! Talk to you soon.

Locations

One of my readers wrote me and said it would be interesting to see what areas of the world the requests for mix CD's have been coming from. So far, I've received requests from:

Nevada
Illinois
Indiana (two)
Virginia
New Jersey
Pennsylvania (two)
Arizona
Alberta, Canada
Missouri
Washington
Florida
Ohio
California

I have some readers in other parts of the world, I know. I'll take requests for those areas, too. It's surprisingly cheap to send CD's through the mail - when I did a CD exchange for TUS I sent one to Japan, and it only cost me $4.00.

Mix CD update

Hi, all. I've got all but two of the addresses I need (I sent e-mails to those folks), and the CD's will be going out this weekend.

Many of you very kindly asked me if I would like compensation for materials and/or postage, or if I would like something sent to me in return. No compensation is needed, it's just all part of my own "thank you" for being such loyal readers!

I'm still taking requests until Monday morning, Sept. 12th. Take care!

Danse Macabre - Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Book #13

Attention Laurell K. Hamilton Fans - the first three chapters of the next book - Danse Macabre, due in July '06 - have been posted to her website.

Waiting until next July will prove to be difficult, I think.

Also being published in february next year is a novella entitled "Micah".

Last revision. I mean it. Dammit.

All of you who have requested the "Dance, Bitches!" CD? Well, I have some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is that I haven't sent out the CD's yet, because I couldn't stop messing with the play list.

The good news is that you will now be receiving a two-volume set.

This is absolutely, positively, (until further notice) the LAST revision. I hope to get the CD's out by next weekend. I'm still taking requests, too.

So many ways to help

CNN Help Center - a very comprehensive list.

The Charity Navigator has a comprehensive list of organizations, as well as good advice to heed when contributing to charities and other organizations.

Salvation Army

American Red Cross. Also donate through Amazon.com and Google.com.

World Vision

Newtwork for Good - Many links to various organizations.

International Fund for Animal Welfare

Many companies, in addition to making corporate donations, are also matching employee donations.

If you host with DreamHost (like me!), they are matching donations.

Be sure to also check your state and local public, private, and government agencies. Many grocery store chains are donating food and water, and many retail stores are donating clothing, blankets, and other needed goods. A multitude of fundraisers in every state in the US and many countries abroad are also underway and/or planned.
